Kayseri is a city located in the central Anatolian region,
in Turkey, and is well known for its amazing economic growth and development.
This culture museum is combining contemporary concepts
for displaying the urban culture, using screens to play the video production
about each aspect approached by the museum. The videos, may be watched in
Turkish or in English on widescreen monitors.
The City Museum Section located on the ground floor, which
is approximately 400 square meters. Although not so big, we were impressed by
its functionality and the innovative way in which its addressing to their
visitors. When careful use of the space is combined with adequate technology,
the effect on viewers is really quite striking.
The museum has a second floor, dedicated to Mimar Sinan, who
was born in Kayseri during the Ottoman period. This floor uses the same kind of
technology for telling the story of the great architect. A selection of items belonging
to the great master are displayed for the visitors.
The museum is open seven days a week and entrance is free.
